My KonMari Journey Part 1: Clothes

Welcome to the first category of my KonMari declutter! According to Marie Kondo’s The Life-changing Magic of Tidying, clothing should be tackled before anything else. It is supposedly the easiest category. I say supposedly because maybe it is in comparison to the other categories (which I haven’t started yet). But in my experience it was tough! It was time-consuming and it was actually more confronting than I thought it would be. Here’s why!

My KonMari Journey: Introduction

I’ve been going on somewhat of a journey these past few months. I guess I have been feeling a bit stressed and crowded – maybe just a touch of year-end-blues. I have been feeling like there is a lot of excess in my life. I’ve been thinking a lot about my impact on the environment (probably a reaction to watching The True Cost). I’ve also been thinking about how I want my house to be tidy and ‘peaceful’ but it always seems to be in a state of disarray, with a lot of clutter, both out in the open, but also inside wardrobes and cupboards.

IMG_6791This led me to start looking into Marie Kondo, whose name I had heard enough about on social media but I didn’t really know anything about her tidying method. A quick YouTube search had me watching several videos on the KonMari method of decluttering (see some of my favourites linked below). Soon enough I was online ordering both The Life-changing Magic of Tidying and the sequel Spark Joy. And getting super excited about starting my own journey.
