10 Reasons to Watch Schitt’s Creek

You’ve probably heard of Schitt’s Creek. I knew it existed for years but was put off by the silly name. Should have known better than to judge a TV show by it’s title! Jane the Virgin, That ’70s Show and Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place? All great comedies.

Thankfully, after multiple recommendations, I finally started watching and then ended up bingeing four seasons in a month. What I didn’t realise before I started watching Schitt’s Creek was that it’s Canadian, co-created by the great Eugene Levy and his son Dan and basically a flipped version of The Beverly Hillbillies. If that’s not incentive enough to dive in, here are 10 more reasons to watch Schitt’s Creek!

The Roswell Reboot is Not an Echo of the Original

roswellnewmexico; roswell; roswellnm

“Every small town has a story, but my hometown has a legend.” These are the opening words of Roswell, New Mexico, the 2019 reboot of the 1999 TV series Roswell. Just like the original, it begins with narration from the female lead. But unlike her predecessor Liz Parker, Liz Ortecho doesn’t journal. The two shows will have similarities but Roswell, New Mexico will be more closely linked to the book series Roswell High. As a big fan of both the book series and the original TV series, here are my thoughts on the reboot.

Here’s Everything We Know About the Roswell Reboot

Those of you who watched Dawson’s Creek, Buffy and Felicity in the late ’90s, will remember the 1999 teen alien drama Roswell with Shiri Appleby and Katherine Heigl. It’s been 19 years since it first aired and like so many other TV shows of the same era (Gilmore Girls, Charmed, Party of Five), it’s being rebooted. A pilot episode was ordered by The CW and filmed in New Mexico last month but we’ll have to wait until mid-May to find out if it’s been picked up for a full season. As a mega fan of the original series and big supporter of the reboot (currently untitled), I’ve been ingesting all Roswell-related info in anticipation of a season pick-up. Hold onto your alien antennae, here’s everything we know about the Roswell reboot so far!

Are You Ready to Play Christmas TV Movie Bingo?

December – it’s the month that brings the magic! It’s also the month that makes us wish work days were shorter, if only to rush home and binge watch every Christmas TV movie ever made. Sure there are the classic holiday films – Home Alone, Love ActuallyMiracle on 34th Street (the Mara Wilson one of course)…in fact, just check out our 15 Movies to Get You in the Christmas Spirit! But TV Christmas movies (typically Hallmark, occasionally Lifetime and now Netflix) are on a level of their own. Words you might hear to describe these movies: lame, predictable, cliché and unwatchable. Words I might use to describe them: delightful, festive, fun and heart-warming. Whether you watch them to have a laugh or genuinely enjoy their Christmas spirit, they’re good festive season value.

To help elevate the fun, we’ve created a game of bingo for you to play while watching! You can either print off the table below or do the modern day thing and screenshot it and play on your phone. Each box contains a typical Christmas TV movie cliché (e.g. The movie stars a child star from the 90s – keep your eyes peeled for Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar!). Make yourself some hot chocolate, throw on a Christmas TV movie and see how many you can cross off!
