Happy 2019! January is a great time to reflect on the year that was and to look forward to what’s to come in the year ahead. Last year I didn’t read nearly as many books as I wanted to so this year I’m looking forward to reading more books in general, as well as reading more Australian Young Adult books because they are my absolute favourite #LoveOzYA. Here’s Everything We Know About the Roswell Reboot

Those of you who watched Dawson’s Creek, Buffy and Felicity in the late ’90s, will remember the 1999 teen alien drama Roswell with Shiri Appleby and Katherine Heigl. It’s been 19 years since it first aired and like so many other TV shows of the same era (Gilmore Girls, Charmed, Party of Five), it’s being rebooted. A pilot episode was ordered by The CW and filmed in New Mexico last month but we’ll have to wait until mid-May to find out if it’s been picked up for a full season. As a mega fan of the original series and big supporter of the reboot (currently untitled), I’ve been ingesting all Roswell-related info in anticipation of a season pick-up. 2017 is going to be another great year for Australian young adult book releases. If you have never read an Australian young adult book your life is not complete. You can get started by checking out this post on the 2016 OzYA books to read. Now on to 2017 releases, in the words of Bella Swan, “Holy Crow!”. Guys, there are so many amazing Australian young adult novels being published this year. We have our very own Australian YA anthology, a fantastical fairytale from Garth Nix and a historical novel set in pre-WWII Sydney by Ursula Dubosarsky. My KonMari Journey: Introduction

I’ve been going on somewhat of a journey these past few months. I guess I have been feeling a bit stressed and crowded – maybe just a touch of year-end-blues. I have been feeling like there is a lot of excess in my life. I’ve been thinking a lot about my impact on the environment (probably a reaction to watching The True Cost). I’ve also been thinking about how I want my house to be tidy and ‘peaceful’ but it always seems to be in a state of disarray, with a lot of clutter, both out in the open, but also inside wardrobes and cupboards.

This led me to start looking into Marie Kondo, whose name I had heard enough about on social media but I didn’t really know anything about her tidying method. A quick YouTube search had me watching several videos on the KonMari method of decluttering (see some of my favourites linked below). Soon enough I was online ordering both The Life-changing Magic of Tidying and the sequel Spark Joy. And getting super excited about starting my own journey.

Confession time. I’m a historical fiction junkie. Pretty much every book I read these days is set during a different era. It’s one of my favourite ways to learn about different periods throughout history. Through these amazing stories I’ve been imprisoned in the reign of terror during the French Revolution, lived through two world wars and been locked away in a concentration camp, campaigned for women’s rights in the late 19^th century, and been privy to the rise and fall of families at the Tudor Court.
