Guys and gals, for a lifelong book lover and publishing employee, books were almost impossible to tidy. Honestly. This has been one tough category. Here’s how I got through in the end, plus my tips for bibliophiles undertaking this challenge.
If you are traveling to Japan you may be wondering what are the things you should buy? Japan is well-known for its quirky inventions, cutting-edge technology, and amazing food.
Before I went on my whirlwind 10 day trip to Japan last December, I was very excited about getting my hands on some of Japan’s more unusual products . Alas, I didn’t come across a “sleeping dome indoors head tent” while in Japan, however, I did see plenty of amazing things and brought back some fantastic souvenirs.
Here are 10 things that I purchased in Japan and absolutely loved. Most were practical, some were not so practical….
Welcome to the first category of my KonMari declutter! According to Marie Kondo’s The Life-changing Magic of Tidying, clothing should be tackled before anything else. It is supposedly the easiest category. I say supposedly because maybe it is in comparison to the other categories (which I haven’t started yet). But in my experience it was tough! It was time-consuming and it was actually more confronting than I thought it would be. Here’s why!
I’ve been going on somewhat of a journey these past few months. I guess I have been feeling a bit stressed and crowded – maybe just a touch of year-end-blues. I have been feeling like there is a lot of excess in my life. I’ve been thinking a lot about my impact on the environment (probably a reaction to watching The True Cost). I’ve also been thinking about how I want my house to be tidy and ‘peaceful’ but it always seems to be in a state of disarray, with a lot of clutter, both out in the open, but also inside wardrobes and cupboards.
This led me to start looking into Marie Kondo, whose name I had heard enough about on social media but I didn’t really know anything about her tidying method. A quick YouTube search had me watching several videos on the KonMari method of decluttering (see some of my favourites linked below). Soon enough I was online ordering both The Life-changing Magic of Tidying and the sequel Spark Joy. And getting super excited about starting my own journey.
I recently got back from a month long trip across Canada which was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. So now that I’m back (and attempting to adjust back to normal everyday life) I thought I would share with you some of the highlights and even some recommendations. But it’s mainly a way for me to relive the experience and show off some of my snaps from the trip.
So if you’re planning a trip to Canada and looking for some inspiration then read on….
I am attempting to incorporate a few more healthy habits into my life. Tired of feeling sluggish and spending hours on the couch, last week I heard someone talk about going screen-free for a day, and I thought, YES. This is the perfect habit to introduce into my life. Spend a whole day with no computer, iPad, iPhone, tv or Kindle. Good for my eyes, my brain, and for my ability to procrastinate like there’s no tomorrow. So Sunday, I went screen-free for the first time. It was sort of tough, but sort of not. Here’s why.
Singapore has many things to offer: shopping, food, culture and world-class attractions. It’s a small country but it packs a punch. Here’s how you should spend your time!
Winter is typically the time to hibernate under blankets and waste countless hours binge watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix. Or is that just me? Despite it being hideously cold outside it doesn’t mean that you can’t make the most of this season. Here are 10 things to do this winter:
“What’s Snapchat?” “Is Pin-interest like an online cork-board?” “Isn’t Tumblr a type of glass?” Are you sick of trying to explain social media to your mum and dad? Or have you yourself fallen out of touch with the ever-changing world of social media? What IS social media? In a nutshell, it’s a tool people use to create and share content online. What kind of content? Depends what you’re in the mood for. Let’s ‘update’ your tech awareness by ‘zooming in’ on some of the world’s most popular social media apps.
We all have our favourite books. The ones that we could reread over and over again. Sometimes it’s hard to even put a finger on why we love them so much. It might be relatable characters or a plot that is pure escapism. For me, I hold a soft spot for books that I read in my younger years. These are the ones that I will constantly go back to and read. It’s a way for me to relive my childhood and recapture nostalgic feelings and emotions. Rereading a favourite book is like a mug of hot chocolate on a winter’s night, a hug from a friend or unicorns. Pure joy. These are my favourites…
