Shadowhunters Moana Blackhearts

It’s the start of another year and there are some amazing things on the horizon in 2016. Here are just a few things that we are looking forward to this year…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Eddie Redmayne in the Harry Potter universe, yes please. If you haven’t seen the recent teaser trailer, you have to check it out. Excitingly, it’s directed by David Yates, who was at the helm of the last 4 Harry Potter films, so you just know it’s going to work. It’s scheduled for a November 2016 release so we’ve got a long wait ahead of us. Accio November.

Season 3 of Peaky Blinders
I’ve just recently finished watching the first 2 seasons and I am so excited for the next one! Who does Tommy Shelby choose…Grace or May? #TeamGrace. It’s filming at the moment, and there’s rumours it may air in the UK as soon as April. Bring it on.

Blackhearts by Nicole Castroman
Landing on shelves in February, this blackbeard origin story sounds amazing. I’m not usually one for pirate stories, but it sounds like a good old fashioned epic love story, with a bit of adventure mixed in. I’ll be awaiting this one eagerly.

The Secret Life of Pets
This movie looks adorably cute. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet you can check it out in the link above.

Moana
Disney has a new Princess on the block and she is Polynesian. I have high hopes that this will be ah-mazing.

Season 3 of Real Housewives of Melbourne
Trashy TV at it’s best (or worst). I can’t get enough of Melbourne’s housewives. I love the fights, the over the top outfits and egos and the stupidity of some of the housewives. It makes for a very entertaining hour of television.

Summer Days and Summer Nights Edited by Stephanie Perkins
12 romantic stories by some of the best YA authors around. Hell. Yeah.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
Look, I’m not expecting some kind of masterpiece. But it’s got the whole original cast and I’m super excited to see Gus Portokalos in 2016! What verbal gems will he spit out in this Big Fat Greekquel?

Fuller House
I visited the Tanner house in San Francisco (the actual exterior, not the Painted Ladies which everyone always thinks is their street) and still own and watch the DVDs. I am a Full House addict and I’m not afraid to admit it, Internet.

Tomorrow When the War Began
If you had no idea that this was being made into a ABC3 TV series, watch the sneak peek above! After I saw the 2010 movie adaptation, I spent the next 5 years promising to read the books. This year IT WILL HAPPEN! #newyearsresolution

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld
A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in Cincinnati, Ohio. Liz and Jane are successful thirty-something New Yorkers who return home to help their hopeless family get back on their feet.  Bingley’s name is Chip and he’s a reality star…I mean, must I go on or are you ready to pre-order it?

Shadowhunters
The television series based  of The Mortal Instruments books by Cassandra Clare. The movie came out two years ago, and even though I admit to owning the DVD somewhat ashamedly, it was fairly dreadful. The books did set my not -so-YA-heart aflutter (at what age are you officially not “YA” anyway?), so I am pumped for this to start airing. Fingers crossed it’s faithful to the books and the characters have oodles of chemistry.

Gilmore Girls Season 8
I’m sure anyone who reads our blog knows we are all pumped for Gilmore Girls returning to our screens in 2016 – thank you so so so much Netflix! It’s been my favourite show forever and the box set was one of my 21st birthday presents – in other words, a prized possession. Not much has been said about exactly what the new season will comprise of storyline-wise. But I am crossing fingers and toes that there’s a Luke and Lorelai happy ending. This is the year we finally get to find out how Amy Sherman-Palladino wanted things to end! Oi with the poodles, already! When is it starting?!

Bridget Jones’s Baby
Look I’m not sure how this is going to go. The first two movies were based on the books written by Helen Fielding. And there’s no third book so I think the movie makers are just hoping to ride on the coattails of the name. I did LOVE the first movie and book, loved the second much less. Not sure about Bridget now having a baby and there being a love triangle between Darcy (Colin Firth) and whoever McDreamy (aka, Patrick Dempsey) is playing. Plus Renee Zellweger looks completely different these days. But nevertheless, I am sure there will be a few laughs to be had!

The Grass is Greener by Loretta Hill
I love buying Loretta’s books. She usually has a new release at the start of the year and she’s a great Australian author to support. I fell in love with her books when I read The Girl in Steel-Capped Boots, then the subsequent sequels. Easy-to-read, Australian setting, strong female characters and a dash of romance. Need to go and add this to my to-read shelf ASAP.
